Venus Williams Serves

OK, now for a more positive post! I love Serena and Venus Williams. I think they are healthy, athletic, and beautiful. When I think of my ideal figure they immediately come to mind. I wish I had the ability to work out as hard as they do! Yeah, I know, they are professional athletes and everything, but man! They are in amazing shape! I love watching them play tennis, and I really don’t even like tennis that much. I just catch them and Andy Roddick each year.

No, seriously, she is a loser. I have read so many articles where she whines about being fat as a child, and how it has affected her body image. Then she finally sucked it up and lost the weight. She looks great and I commend her for not only taking the initiative to lose the weight but to keep it off. But recently she was reported saying that she would never have children because she did not want to ruin her figure. She admits to saying this, and it was actually part of an interview with Redbook. She even went as far as saying she was going to adopt (and she is in the process of adopting now) because “I just can’t do that to my body” Wait, lets back up a minute. Think of all the beautiful celebrities who have recently had a baby. Jessica Alba. Nicole Ritchie. Giselle Bündchen. Ashlee Simpson. Jenna Elfman. Geez, I could really go on naming a list but you get the point. Many may use the argument that well these celebrities have a personal trainer and can just get a combo c-section + tummy tuck. But the thing is, Giselle, Jessica, and Nicole all say they had natural childbirth. So no tummy tucks there. And many of them, like Giselle, are very naturally minded and probably just work out and eat healthy. Even if they did go the c-section + tummy tuck route Jillian is a celebrity too and could get her body back in top form in no time. I don’t really understand her logic. I think it in fact makes her the biggest loser. Of course it is her body, her choice but something about her attitude just really irritates me. She is supposed to be a role model for young women and I find her statement speaks volumes of her distorted body image.

Matthew McConaughey approaching the finish lin...

So every year most people resolve to get fit for the new year. This year Matthew Mcconaughey is going to be my inspiration. Every photo of him that I see he is doing something athletic. Like here, he is running a marathon. Maybe I will not be this fit by the end of the year, but I am striving for his motivation anyway!
