Every year when I was younger I loved laying out by the pool, enjoying the last days of summer before school would start again. I can still remember the sadness coupled with the excitement of the first day of class. I planned that first day carefully, pouring over fashion magazines at night to select the perfect back to school outfit for the first day of class. I can still remember one year wearing a pleated skirt with knee socks, another a long flowing dress, and still another a patchwork skirt. My fashion choices were certainly dictated by what I thought was “in” at the time, but now they are a bit more eclectic now, ad focused more on comfort and functionality. I also really love ecological designs, and fabrics utilizing organic cotton, recycled materials. Because it is still quite hot here when school starts in August, it is difficult to wear fall clothes until October or November. I put together this outfit with that in mind, and I love the contrast of bright colors with pastels, utilizing a splash of color in the yellow accessory and getting in a daily dose of fun and conversation with the escape key ring and mustache necklace.
